6.30PM City Hall, near Dublin Castle, Dame Street, Dublin 2
At the November Dublin City Council Meeting, a question has been placed on the agenda to ask the City Manager to clarify the position regarding a deal for exclusive use of Shell petrol by DCC vehicles.
A demonstration of support for the end of this deal has been called for 6.30PM to protest at the City Council's exclusive deal with Shell for petrol.
Many people who work for Dublin City Council support the people of Erris in their fight against the scheme hatched by the government and Shell to install a huge polluting refinery at Ballanaboy, but the deal between DCC and Shell means that they are forced to buy fuel in Shell garages, which are still 100% supplied with Shell petrol, despite the forecourt business having been sold recently.
Supporters are asked to gather on Monday 6th at City Hall at the top of Parliament Street to show support for the people of Rossport and to demand that the City Manager accounts for the appalling situation whereby Dubliners are forced to deal with Shell, a company with a long record of financial fraud, human rights abuse, environmental destruction, and attacks on small communities.
