Protests continue at the proposed refinery site in Bellanaboy
This morning (Thursday) saw continued protests at the disputed Corrib Gas project works in North Mayo, with over 240 people gathering to march on the main gates of destruction in Erris.
Police activity remains very obtrusive in the area, with roadblocks and busloads of Gardaí flying around the place a daily occurance. Intimidation of local people is also a popular past-time, with unmarked cars following opponents to the project down the backroads and sideroads around the Bellanaboy site and beyond.
Today's action showed a steadily growing throng on the ground ready to show their displeasure in the face of brute state power. Martial law in Erris.
The peace was again maintained despite the usual heavy hand of $hell's new state-sponsored private security team.
The fight will continue.
