Rishi Sunak has once again been dropping hints about leaving the European Convention on Human Rights. This is not credible, says Dr David McGrogan: such a feat would require a Government far more serious than this one.

offsite link Woke Activists Need to Read Their David Hume Fri Apr 19, 2024 11:16 | Dr James Allan
The great Scottish Enlightenment philosopher David Hume would have some things to teach today's woke activists, says Prof James Allan: about a mind-independent reality that has no truck with claims of 'my truth'.

offsite link Farmers? Biggest Problems are Green Ideologues, not Climate Change Fri Apr 19, 2024 09:00 | Ben Pile
It's been a wet winter and this is bad news for farmers, says Ben Pile. But with agricultural yields increasing sharply over recent decades, there's no reason to link it to climate change or start catostrophising about it.

Great craic and fine horses right in the middle of the country on the Galway - Dublin road. Just a few hours away from anywhere at most.

I bumped in to Mary Coughlin, Minister for Agriculture accompanied by Gardaí and men in suits on walkabout around the town. Earlier she’d been on stage with a lot of official looking people talking about her ‘brief’ (looking for votes). On the street I asked her was she going to support the farmers in Bantry in their efforts to ensure that the ESB put power lines under rather than over their land in accordance with best international practise and I challenged her for making representations on behalf of the private developer involved above the wishes of the farmers who she is mandated to represent. She denied this allegation saying she was only “looking for an update”. I told her I had seen the letter. Annoyed, she made a quick get-away from me in the same way as she ran from Joe Burke, Chairman of the Bantry Concerned Action Group when he challenged her at the Ploughing Championships last week in Carlow. You can read the letter yourselves and make your own mind up. See here: http://www.indymedia.ie/article/77670 .
