Farmer Uses Ryder Cup To Make Point On Peace

category kildare | anti-war / imperialism | other press author Thursday September 21, 2006 05:30author by d'other

An Irish farmer has used the Ryder Cup and the endless streams of choppered in VIP's to make a general point on peace. The farmer describes how 'as the rich and powerful politicians chopper their way to the Ryder Cup, they might have to avert their gaze from my little farm next door.' Why? Because on this small area of farm land beside the K-Club venue he has made a huge CND style peace symbol encircled with a 'peace on earth' slogan. Weird or what? Photos are at the following link.

Congrats on your protest. Perhaps you might want to take more pictures and post them here or better still maybe other farmers and or residents in the area could do something similar. BTW, you are welcome to publish your image here. Just add it as a comment to this story.

As you say on your website it is certainly amazing that the world is sleeping walking to disaster and yet all the focus and media energy is directed at this stupid and pointless event.

For reference there was an earlier article in May on the Ryder Cup on Indymedia here and it can be found at the link below.

Here's the image. Of course, you WON'T SEE thius published in the Irish Times, on RTE, and the rest of the Irish MSM in case the freebies from Smurfit to attend the event dry up.

What a disappointment that no-one on the left has organise a Black Shamrock or a similar symbol protest at the 18th Green...

Even if the people arriving at the Ryder Cup have anything to do with war what possibly effect would a white pattern in the grass of a field have on their warmongering outlook?
I might see a poster advertising Pepsi but it still doesn't effect my preference for Coca-Cola

What has a bus shelter got to do with Pepsi? Nothing much other than potential customers would see a poster there. Same deal with this sign, location, location , location. Creative and hard to miss.

to this farming family for making such a beautiful symbol that speaks the wish of so many people.
