Ógra Shinn Féin mobilised throughout the north of Ireland last week, ahead of the 12th of July orange marches throughout the north. Ógra Shinn Féin activists mobilised in areas such as Castlederg, south Derry, south Down and north Antrim amongst others. Among the places Ógra were active was Belfast. A delegation drawn from members throughout Ireland was there to witness first hand of the experiences of communities such as Ardoyne and Springfield road at this time of the year.
Speaking of the mobilisation Barry McColgan, Ógra Shinn Féin spokesperson explained,
"We have stood alongside the communities throughout the north in our opposition to sectarian parades through nationalist areas. The Ógra activists who were in various areas over the past number of days have witnessed for themselves the sectarian triumphalist nature of these parades. In the communities where we had a presence we seen for ourselves the community standing together and tackling this issue head on, and we were there to offer our support and solidarity to these communities!"
