Locals gather,dalkey police station blocade

Today at 7:00 am residents and other members of the local community of dalkey village,co.dublin gathered in protest against the building of a villi-com tele communications tower being built in the centre of their village and attempted and succesfuly blockaded the local police station and halted the building for the first in hopefully many days to come.....

a brief description of the actions taken today by the community of dalkey village accompanied with photos.

These tower have been proven( in short term testing) to let off large amounts of radiation and have been found to causee severe radiation poisoning and even in some circumstances cancer......

the building of this tower went ahead with out any notice being given to the local residents /community.(funny that?)

Members of the community of shakhill have shown great support and are planning to build bridges between the groups over the next while as they themselves have been fighting and having to go through the same process for the last seven months...

protests will be held daily now( most days) in the morning and (possibly) later on in the afternoons on some days.

Support would be greatfuly appreciated......thank you

What is the purpose and location of the tower. Is it being placed within the Garda stations grounds and do you know whether it is for mobile phones or what and what frequencies it would be more or less broadcasting on?

It seems this crowd Villicom telecommunications tried to erect a mast in in Listowel Garda recently and that they were meeting with strong resistance from both gardaí and residents of the Colbert Street area surrounding the barracks as reported in the link below

Garda John O'Brien, who is a representative of the GRA for the South Dublin area, is to raise the matter at the national executive of the association at its next meeting after 47 local gardai signed a petition stating their own opposition to the mast.

He added that residents are determined that the new mast will not be erected and that the existing one will be decommissioned indefinitely.??? IM not sure about this though.
