Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5 6Sylvan have been together since 2000, in various shapes or forms and have played mainly in Dublin during that time. They recorded the Ugly Lemon EP in Electrical Audio (Chicago) with legendary producer Steve Albini in late 2003. Their angular rock is influenced by the likes of Shellac, Fugazi and Sonic Youth.
The Blood Red Mountain Band are a five piece Alt Folk/country/pop band, from all over the place but currently residing in Dublin. They are self described as "Bonnie Prince Billy jamming with The Pogues. Fishermans Blues as Played by Aretha Franklin and The Band. Ryan Adams on holiday in Galway. The Waterboys renting Big Pink, Foot Stomping Barnstormers and delicate, ice thin, paens of regret and love and celebration."
Another slice of skewed rock comes in the shape of Dograck, a baldoyle three-piece who've been making steady process with their harmonic and off kilter tunes over the past year or so.
DJ Ciaran from the legendary Niacin Sound System will be spinning before, after and in between the bands, and primative karaoke is also promised.
The Lower Deck is located just off Richmond St/Rathmines Road at the Grand Canal.

... Actually this one is a flier. It's meant to reflect the duality, diversity, dichotomy of the event.
Flier by Seomra Spraoi
Yeah definitely like the interesting use of colour in the flier. But has Dame Edna been confirmed for the night?
Firstly, that's not Dame Edna. If the resolution was better, you'd be able to see that it's a Japanese man dressed as a woman. It's the cover from a CD called 'Karaoke Queen'.
Anyway, at Thursday's gig, the raffle tickets will be free! (once you've paid your money at the door)
And entry to the karaoke competition is free (once you've ... yada yada...)
And remember all proceeds go towards the cause of setting up a goddam autonomous social centre in Dublin for once and for all.
Finally, the doors open at 8pm and the dj will start spinning his decks at 8.01pm.
So get there early, there's a lot to get through.
