Tree planting and Walk at Ringaskiddy

category cork | environment | news report author Monday February 27, 2006 20:45author by John Baker - Cork Greenmap

A hardy crew of people from the Cork Harbour area today braved the elements to plant trees and walk the right of way across the proposed incinerator site at Ringaskiddy.

Peasants' revolt

Not so much a protest as an action to assert an alternative reality this is the 3rd year that people have planted trees here. The intention is that they will be here long after the incinerator has been forgotten.
The walk was organised by the Cork Greenmap Project as the 5th in a series to increase awareness of the local environment. At each walk a leaflet is produced to inform participants of the history and/or natural heritage of the area. A write up and map of the walk is available on the Cork Greenmap website.
