intro; greening the city, connecting communities
since last year in dublin we have set up 2 new community gardens and made attempts to create a greenway for the city. we hope to do more and more, a lot of people from all walks of life and backrounds are involved; its a really great project to be invovled in- we hope to push it more this year
mosaic art bench/ ground art
ruths proposal for a mosaic piece in dolphins barn garden is great
maybe a little, or not so little, mosaic bench could be made like gaudi's lovely bench in parc guel in barcelona, see link for more images
maybe this could be a really nice event to happen during the paddys weekend
architect herman hertzberger did a community garden in a housing block exactly like this; invited the whole community for a big day or weekend of smashing plates and setting bits in benches, really lovely stuff
communication- article
we are trying to take things up a step with communication about the project and to whom- we are currently putting an article together about the project ; greening the city, sustainable cities, community invovlement, dolphins barn garden, phibsboro garden and a lot more....... we hope to circulate this around so the article is a joint effort
communication- website
we said in the garden last sunday that we could do a worksop to update the website, include links to a lot of the stuff which is all over the place at the moment ; audio, posters, text, links to other gardens etc.... we can pick a date for this later
communication- exhibition
the exhibition we had in dolphins barn public library might make its way to phibs library soon
we had a greening the city stall at the anarchist bookfair which went down pretty well, audio and film interviews were done, more on that later
greening the city ; because we have only 1 home
communication- film
we are trying to get vid cameras down to get stuff to make a short film with revolt
communication- website
perhaps we could contact duncan stewarts eco eye show and see if he would highlight the project
communication- outreach
further outreach is needed, maybe we can make up a groovy poster to put up around the dolphins barn, teresas gardens, rialto, fatima mansions area, shop windows, community centres etc- also submit it and article to all local newsletters, websites etc
communication- network
improved system to network with other irish groups etc, should come into website, but maybe a few visits later in the year, and also with seed savers and celt in clare
the phibs crew are getting a riseup list similar to dolphins barn list
paddys weekend
really make a lovely event for paddys weekend
that weekend will be followed by a weekend in phibs garden.
coincidently enough, it is great that the 19 bus connects the 2 gardens
belfast garden are having a garden birthday party on paddys day, picnic and all the rest
not sure what cork crew are up to
trees:
theres a load of fruit trees in, so maybe in a few short years we can be enjoying a meal with our own home brew wine and beer
kevin has talked about another tree walk, hopefully we can visit the old trees in sheriff st and see how they are doing, maybe get another garden going
theres been tree walks in cork
