Local Sinn Fein Cumman organised a picket in support of Joanne Delaney.

Local Demo in support of sacked Dunnes Stores worker and trade unionist Joanne Delaney.

On a bitterly cold Thursday night last a picket on Dunnes Stores in Donaghmede was organised by the local cumann. Joanne Delaney came over from Crumlin to attend and a couple of Mandate personell including Brendan Archibald were present.

About twenty people were in attendance. Within seconds of taking up position at the shopping centre entrance, security guards informed us we were trespassing on private property. We moved the twenty yards or so onto the public pavement and within 5 mins the Garda had turned up.

They claimed that they had complaints that "Sinn Fein were intimidating people" and preventing them accessing the centre. After being assured that this was utter lies and being introduced to Joanne and her story told they went off, probably to turn up hours late to a real victim of crime.

Next out for a snoop was some irriating manageress from Dunnes who also proceeded to scowl at two part time Dunnes workers who Joanne was talking with.

We got a good amount of supportive 'beeps' from passing cars and shoppers.

Next picket, as part of the Day of Action is at 1pm Saturday in Donaghmede shopping centre. All are welcome. We will have a generic leaflet to hand out.
