Gerry Adams to address Ógra Shinn Féin Congress

category national | miscellaneous | event notice author Tuesday January 31, 2006 19:35author by Irish Republican Youth - Ógra Shinn Féinauthor email osf6county at yahoo dot com Report this post to the editors

Gerry, Adams the president of Sinn Féin is set to address the Ógra
Shinn Féin national congress when it convenes this weekend.

Gerry, Adams the president of Sinn Féin is set to address the Ógra
Shinn Féin national congress when it convenes this weekend.

The congress, which is being held in the A.T.G.W.U. hall in middle abbey street, Dublin, will see the launch of the youth partys suicide prevention campaign. The Sinn Féin party president will launch Ógra Shinn Féins campaign at the event. Mr. Adams, who is Sinn Féin spokesperson on suicide
prevention, will give the main address of the congress on Saturday 4th
February.

Speaking ahead of the congress National Organiser of Ógra Shinn Féin
Mickey Bravender said "The issue of people taking their own lives or
attempting to take their own lives is a major social issue on the
island of Ireland. This country has the second highest suicide rate in
Europe; this rate has increased by more than 25% over the last decade"

"Through the campaign we will also be calling for more money to be
granted to mental illnesses and seek better provision for the
treatment of metal illnesses. We as young republican activists must be
active on this issue as suicide as is biggest killer of young people
in Ireland. An all Ireland mental health strategy must be formulated,
funded and implemented as this issue does not simply stop at the
'border'." he concluded

' In this ceaseless struggle there will be, and must be, an alternate ebb and flow. But let England make no mistake. The generous high- bred Youth of Ireland will never fail to answer the call we pass on to them- will never fail to blaze forth in the red rage of war to win their country's freedom.''-Thomas Mc Donagh.

i'm all for quotations but couldnt you add a commentary to it?

were they in the nip or something ?

I truly wish the sinn fein posters here would add a little more detail rather than just posting and running , advertising an event . It seems to be Sinn Fein policy regards this site - non- engagement in any debate , with anyone .

No, Ógra Shinnféin hasn't adopted the Indy 'i' as their new logo. Oscailt just doesn't do .bmp files.

I made them into .jpg file in the name of cybers-solidarity ;-)

Maybe Ógra Shinnféin will do do an Indymedia.ie interview with Gerry in return?

Just a thought

I'm wondering why the thumbnails of red jade's JPEGs aren't being correctly displayed by Oscailt 3.

Because we take a more mature attitude to our politics. You encourage youth into the deadend alley of riots. Still havent healed your RIRA rift, tut tut. Do you have two 32 CSMs also?

Who was that who orchestrated a riot in Short Strand this time last year? The PRM haven't come from nowhere. You nearly sound like a 'stick' goading the immature upstarts. Amazing how history repeats itself, isn't it?

Just an observation. But would I be wrong in saying the ogra symbol posted was designed by a now member of eirigi about 5 years ago?? Or can anyone put me on the right road??

Jonathan Powell probably designed it.
