author by pat cpublication date Tue Jan 03, 2006 17:13author address author phone

Depends on the management but 16/17 yr olds should be able to get in. They wont be served booze without ID though.

What exactly is trojan music?

I thought they were just a record company!?!

author by pat cpublication date Sat Jan 07, 2006 20:27author address author phone

i think it involves using a horse, possibly illegal.

Your right, Trojan is a label, one highly respected when it comes to ska, reggae etc.

you'll sometimes see the word Trojan used the way Motown is used to describe a type of soul music etc, as it is above.

the term trojan in this context actually originates from the " trojan skins" which grew out of the scooter culture .

Basically anti-racist skinheads with small mohicans , into scooters , northern soul , ska etc . Instead of the usual skinhead outfits they wore camouflage combats and the like usually .The scooters they rode were chop job lambrettas and vespas remodelled into choppers , stripped down and with all sorts of modifications .

Might try and get down to that meself if possible . Was a big fan of that sort of music once .

the term trojan actually originates from Duke Reid, jamaican musician and co founder of the famous music label....

what Barry refers to is some kind of Brit hype, temporary fashion....

Not everybody can do the twist, not everybody can do the cha cha cha... but everybody can do the ska!!!

Duke Reid would transport his sound systen around the island in his TROJAN truck.Hence the Trojan Sound System.
