Deportation alert

category national | racism & migration related issues | news report author Thursday November 24, 2005 13:59author by ,,,,

I have just heard that there are deportations arranged for today. I spoke briefly to a member of Residents Against Racism and I understand they will be down at Burgh Quay at 2pm.
If you are in the city centre please get down there.
If I get any more details I will post them here.

The Garda National Immigration Bureau(GNIB) is on Burgh Quay Dublin 2
( Just up from Tara Street Train station)
I think the building used to be the offices of the Irish Press group of newspapers.

I spoke to Rosanna a few minutes ago. RAR are down there. She said it is quiet there but if anything is going to happen today they will not know until about 3pm.

Good news anyway there was no sign of a deportation today people were told to sign back on in January the the dates are the 29th and the 12th or 13th.
There is a rumoured deportation in the coming weeks and some people are being held in Cloverhill and women in mountjoy so that is obviously not a good sign.
RAR did not post the alert we were just there today to see if anything was going to happen.
Thanks though to the people who did show up for support we need all we can get.
