Brits Out!

There will be a protest at the British embassy this evening at 6pm organised by Ógra Shinn Féin Átha Cliath. The purpose of the protest is quite straight forward, Brits Out! We are letting them know that we (Republicans) are still here and will continue to oppose the British occupation of our country.

There will be a protest at the British embassy this evening at 6pm organised by Ógra Shinn Féin Átha Cliath. The purpose of the protest is quite straight forward, Brits Out! We are letting them know that we (Republicans) are still here and will continue to oppose the British occupation of our country.

When we say Brits Out we mean an end to British political, military and economic interference in our country. It means an end to the occupation and partition of our country. It does NOT mean that we want British people to leave Ireland. It does NOT mean that we want to see those who identify themselves as British being prevented from practicing their culture or remembering their history.

Ending British Political interference means:
- no decisions taken in Westminster take affect in Ireland.
- that the Irish people, through their elected representatives and referenda decide Ireland’s future.
- that the Irish people are obliged to abide only by laws passed by an Irish parliament, elected by the Irish people and enforced by an Irish police force and judiciary.

Ending British Military interference means:
- dismantling all British military structures on Irish soil.
- sending all British troops back to Britain (not to any other country like Iraq or Afghanistan where they would only cause similar death and destruction to that they have caused in Ireland.)
- dismantling their structures for collusion with their local militias, ie. The PSNI/RUC, unionist paramilitaries, etc.
- removing their spies and informers from our island.

Ending British economic interference means:
- the British Government has no right to raise taxes or impose service charges in Ireland.
- that British currency no longer holds the status of legal tender in Ireland or that the Bank of England sets interest rates.
- that British based multinationals such as Shell no longer exploit Irish resources or workers for profit that only benefits its shareholders and British tax payers.

Of course, there are many other consequences to the ending of British rule in Ireland, these are just samples of a few.
