Trocaire and NUI Maynooth Amnesty and Global Awareness Societies present an evening talk on Gender, Conflict and Development with Charm Tong.
Charm Tong is a member of the Shan ethnic community in Burma, who was forced into exile in Thailand. She is a frontline activist and advocate for human rights, who helped to found the Shan Women's Action Network (SWAN) and a school for Shan youth.
Charm has brought international attention to the human rights abuses experienced by the Shan at the hands of the Burmese military. At just 23 years old, Charm was the recipient of the 2005 Reebok Human Rights Award.
Join us on Monday 17th October in NUI Maynooth.
