Galloway Debates Hitchens

category national | anti-war / imperialism | event notice author Wednesday September 14, 2005 04:20author by Radio Free Eireann Report this post to the editors

Listen to Debate Live

Radio Free Eireann host John McDonagh and WBAI Arts Director Janet Coleman Host web-cast of debate which will be moderated by Amy Goodman of Democracy Now.

Wed., September 14th

Time: 7 pm - 10 pm EST

Streaming at http://kpftx.org and http://www.thejourneyradio.org

Two years after the invasion of Iraq, British MP George Galloway and
journalist Christopher Hitchens will debate the causes and
consequences of the Iraq war at Baruch College in New York City.
Moderated by Amy Goodman.

George Galloway is Respect party MP for Bethnal Green and Bow in East
London. He recently electrified the United States with his appearance
at the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations on May 17, when
he turned the proceedings into a condemnation of the war in Iraq.
CNN's Wolf Blitzer described Galloway's speech in the Senate as "a
blistering attack on U.S. senators rarely heard" in Washington. His
new book, out in September, is "Mr. Galloway Goes to Washington" (The
New Press).

Christopher Hitchens is a widely published polemicist and frequent
radio and TV commentator. He is the author of "A Long Short War," "Why
Orwell Matters," "The Trial of Henry Kissinger," and many other books.
The London Observer calls him "One of the most brilliant journalists
of our time."

This debate is part of a national tour of the United States by George
Galloway, "Stand Up and Be Counted: No to War and Occupation." The
tour will culminate in Washington, DC, during the anti-war protests on
September 24th. For a full list of cities and events, please see the
website: http://www.mrgallowaygoestowashington.com/.

The web cast will be hosted by John McDonagh of Radio Free Eireann and Janet Coleman Arts Director of WBAI radio in New York

Unfortunately its quite late. It will begin around midnight. There should be highlights from the debate on this Saturdays episode of Radio Free Eireann (WBAI 99.5 FM 1;30 to 3:00) . Remember that the National Irish Freedom Committe archives episodes of RFE at:

About time people of the calibre of Rushdie and Hitchens have had a chance to probe Galloway.

The Washington correspondent of Radio Free Aryann, Billyclub Hughes, will make a special appearance. He will analyse how the "culture distorters", first emphasized by Francis Parker Yockey, control the neo-cons around George Bush, and how their influence has led to American deaths in a war for the Zionists in Iraq.

It was a complete waste. Amy Goodman was visibly disgusted chairing the "debate" between those two drunken Leninist arseholes. Read Greg Palast's article posted on his website a few days ago about it.

Was like wittnessing a car crash, Hitchens destroyed Galloway.

Galloway's love for atheist Stalinism and the former Soviet bloc simply desn't compute with his current love for those who take a strict uncompromising interpretation of Islam.

And its not a "dialectic". Its either downright cynical or downright stupid.
