I thought the SWP were a socialist organisation? Well they care not. Why are they calling for a vigil? If I want religion I'll go to a religious group not an anti-war group. SWP drop your courting of backward petty-bourgeois elements in the "movement".

Why has a Reclaim the Streets been called in Dublin on the same day as the first trip to Shannon Airport all year for the anti-war movement?

The last May Day RTS had little visible politics associated with it (eg banners, leaflets on street, public transport, public space issues). Is it a youth culture thing oblivious to a war killing a lot of young people? Was it called for the same day in reaction to the SWP domiance of the IAWM and despair that the anarchs can't take on the issue of 25,000 U.S. military commuting through Shannon on a monthly basis? There will be a lot of anarchs and others on the streets of DC on the 24th. and doing direct action against the war at the White House, Pentagon and military recruitment centres in the DC area on the 26th.

Wouldn't be too late for a crew to add anti-war visibility at the RTS....its an oil war after all. Would do it myself but I'm off to Shannon to hook up with grassroots activists.

the party was organised that day because it was the nearest saturday to car free day, it was discussed whether it would have an impact on shannon. Most people agreed that there is room for both as alot of people won't be going to shannon anyway. Maybe a few of the anarchists might have gone down that won't now, but not more than 5 or ten people.
and generally swp members don't go to street party events anyway. The party is very political but on a different issue. so won't effect the war or the anti war movement.

Maybe the "rts" should go to a certain place of anti-war significance in the city centre....ahem......

Just a sec... Weren't the libertarians for getting away from the Streets of Dublin and for getting the anti-war movement down to Shannon?

"the party was organised that day because it was the nearest saturday to car free day"
People in Iraq would be warmed to hear of such far sighted reasons....

isn't on the iraqi issue, so the last comment doesn't make sense. Unlike the swp we believe it is possible to have more than one issue at a time. if we followed your logic we shouldn't support the rossport five because it takes resources from the anti war movement. near sighted. most of the people at the party don't take part in swp fronts, and the swp don't party. so no loss either way
