Remind Norwegian diplomats that they can't hide behind Shell forever.
One of the most bizarre things about the whole Corrib gas saga is the fact that the Irish tax payer gains nothing from the exploitation of this resource. No new hospitals. No new schools. No new creches. No new playgrounds... We'll even have to buy the gas at the full market rate.
Yet, the Norwegian tax payer, through Statoil, has a 36.5% stake in the Corrib gas field and will benefit greatly from the discovery.
There are 5 men still in Cloverhill prison at the behest of Statoil, Shell and Marathon. They have been imprisoned with the full cooperation of the Irish government, members of which are responsible for presiding over the sale of our natural resources in the first place.
We want to support the Rossport 5 by holding a picket at the Norwegian Embassy on Molesworth St. (between Kildare St. and Dawson St.) on Tuesday 6 September between 13.00-14.00.
We wish to ask the Norwegian people if they really think it's in their country's best intrests to prolong the imprisonment of the Rossport 5.
We want the Norwegian government to know that the Corrib field will be of no benefit to them unless the gas is processed at sea.
Furthermore, we wish to remind the elected representatives down the street that this one is not going to go away...
Justice for the Rossport 5.
Send Shell to sea.
