Campaign Against Service Charges

DON'T PANIC! DON'T PAY THE BIN TAX!

IT IS PERFECTLY LEGAL TO PUT YOUR BIN WITHOUT A TAG
INTO THE BACK OF THE LORRY YOURSELF

You are not breaking the law-You are legally allowed to do this

Last week, members of the Campaign Against Service Charges and many local residents in Dun Laoghaire, Glasthule and Blackrock put rubbish bags (without tags) into the back of the bin lorry themselves.

The bin men have no problem with residents doing this. They are just ordinary workers themselves who have been told by the Council bosses not to pick up bins without a tag.

The council made no attempt to stop us putting the bins in the truck ourselves because they know it is legally allowed under part 1 section 5 of the Litter Act 1997.

Of course, the council did not tell residents they could put their own bins into the back of the lorry because they want to bully people into buying a €4 tag for every bag.

So don't be bullied into paying this unfair double tax.

On Bin Day- Come out with your bin and throw it into the back of the truck Members of the campaign will be back around on the next bin day to assist residents putting their bins into the back ofthe lorry.

However, we cannot always be there. We need more residents to come out and put their bins in themselves. Householders need to get in the habit of coming out when the bin truck arrives with their bin and throwing it in.

If you are worried about the bin being too heavy, put your rubbish into two or three smaller bags instead of one big one.

SO DON'T BE AFRAID - IT IS PERFECTLY LEGAL

You cannot get in any trouble for putting your bin into the back of the lorry without a tag.

Congratulations to those of us who refuse to pay this double-tax !

We are organised , on a small scale , in this part of Clondalkin whereas we 'rotate' the job of disposing of our household rubbish between 12 familys - ie the wife/mother/husband/son etc in one household takes the bags of rubbish into his/her job one week , a neighbour does the same the following week etc . Also - we each individually place our bag of rubbish directly into the back of the bin-truck - the workers never attempt to stop us , only advise us to wait for the truck to stop moving before we do it . Plus - we use the rubbish-bins in the car-parks of shopping centre's , on the footpaths etc .
We have all received at least two 'red letters' from the Council over this issue but we refuse to pay , a second time , for this service . And will continue to refuse to pay .

Well, thank you very much. Two more large brandies, please.

Somebody should have a closer look at these figures.

There’s too much living large going on here.

I want my €4 bin charge back and so does the old woman next door.

Otherwise, we want to go on the next gravy train (First Class) to whatever miscellaneous conference any councillor is attending, here or away.
