A talk by a north American anarchist
Robyn Banks of the Californian 'Furious 5 Revolutionary Collective' is in Dublin so we've asked her to tell us about their work in California. This talk should be of interest to anyone interested in a fresh perspective for the anarchist movement in Ireland or with a general interest in anarchism internationally.
Saturday 5pm - WSM office, 5 Merrion Row
Robyn is involved mostly in student organizing (fighting budget cuts and tuition/fee hikes in California's public higher education system), members of her forming organization are involved in student, labour, and community organizing all.
She says "I will generally be speaking about our larger goals which are building a new base for anarchism rooted in working class and oppressed communities, and further down the line building and uniting social movements. I'll relate all of this to the antiwar movement in the U.S. in terms of why our goals and organiziing methods strongly diverge from the activistm/summit/issue hopping of the larger anarchist/left/antiwar milieu."
