Post G8 Discussion

category dublin | anti-capitalism | event notice author Friday July 15, 2005 14:46author by dara - Seomra Spraoi

Activists involved in the G8 Summit protests look back and discuss what can be learnt from the successes and failures experienced.
St Nicholas of Myra 4pm

The days spent at the G8 protests were hectic and full of lessons about how the movement works, and how it occassionally doesn't.

The Dissent! protests saw the creation of an ecologically sustainable action camp and the most public expression of new tactics. We also all encountered varying level of success in dealing with police tactics.

This discussion is a chance to examine the goals we went into Scotland with and how our tactics worked and didn't work in achieving these goals. Together we can discuss what this must mean for the evolution of radical direct action politics. By criticising ourselves we can help develop more effective action.

Public Post G8 Discussion: 4.00pm - 6.00pm

WHERE: Nicholas of Myra Hall is on the corner of Francis Street and a small street called Carman's Hall. Coming from Thomas Street, about two thirds the way along, you'll see a grand piano hanging off a building on the left: turn right there and it's on the right.

This will be preceded by a public discussion on Seomra Spraoi's planned social centre (http://www.indymedia.ie/newswire.php?story_id=70829)
