Market Square, 2.00 pm Saturday, 16th July
An information rally will be held to include addresses by members of the families of the imprisoned men; a march through the main streets of Ballina; and declarations of support by spokespersons for a wide range of organisations.
This rally follows a well established pattern which has included Castlebar as the county capital, Belmullet as the capital of Erris and now Ballina as the capital of North Mayo.
There have also been rallies outside of Mayo including Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Galway, Ennis which were large scale, as well as many others on a smaller scale.
The Ballina rally will be especially important as it will mark seventeen days in jail for those five innocent men - they diid nothing worse than standing up for the safety and wellbeing of their families against a ruthless multi-national corporation.
If necessary a further rally will be held on a national scale in Dublin and, by Saturday, it will be clear whether that will be necessary. A date for such a rally will be announced on Saturday if escalation is required. Come prepared to learn!!
