category national | summit mobilisations | press release author Friday June 24, 2005 18:03author by Dissenter - Dissent! Irelandauthor email dissentireland at yahoo dot com

This is a general list of items Dissent! Ireland encourages you to bring. When packing, please keep in mind that it will almost deffinetly rain.

What to bring:
A sleeping bag, sleeping mat, tent (or get with friends or affinity group to share), waterproofs, warm clothes, strong footware, alcohol-based sunscreen (ie. Parasol), anti-midge spray + anti-histamine cream, plate/bowl, cup and cutlery, money for food (eating in the rural space will cost between 3-4 euro a day)snacks and *WATER BOTTLES!*

People with full driving licenses are encouraged to bring them as Dissent will need drivers.

What not to bring:
Drugs. Anything thats soul purpose is to conceal identity - such as masks and gas masks. Anything that could be considered a weapon (ie. penknifes, blades, power tools ect.)

Our buses are going to be stopped and searched at least once on our journey to the G8. It is very likely that we will be stopped and searched at the Northern border. You must have some form of official ID with you (ie. passport, drivers licence, ISIC student card) to enter into the UK.
We will likely be searched again when we reach Stranraer port.

When being searched, be calm and assertive.
Try not to lose your temper or swear (this may be used as an excuse to arrest you).

Our objective is to get people to Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Eco-Village in Stirling. If a large number of people are denied access into the UK, we will make a collective decision on the bus as to what we want to do with the situation.

Times of the bus departures will be posted soon.
