If you thought the inheritance tax raid on farmers was bad, wait till you see what its proponents have in store for us next, says Mat Brown. The Blob that gave us the 'tractor tax' has its sights set on a wealth tax.

The U.S. Education Department has handed out more than $1 billion in DEI grants since 2021, a report from Parents Defending Education has found. No wonder Donald Trump wants to abolish it.

Science is showing that free speech is built into the brain, says Dr. Christopher Badcock. The latest insights from neuroscience suggest that the censorious are regressing to infantile cognition where no nuance is allowed.

Just 20% of Muslim Americans voted for Kamala Harris ? fewer than voted for Donald Trump! The reason Muslims are abandoning the centre-Left is clear, says Noah Carl: they want parties that don't back Israel.

Not long ago, anyone criticising St Greta was labelled a bully. Her expertise in climate science was beyond question, despite leaving school at 14. Now, it looks like the heretics were right and the worshippers were fools.

Shell in Rossport 16/06/2005

category mayo | environment | news report author Thursday June 16, 2005 13:14author by JohnMauthor address Rossport, Ballina, Co. Mayo Report this post to the editors

Encroaching on private lands

This morning (June 16th) sometime before 9am Shell workers again attempted to enter private lands in Rossport , Co. Mayo, as part of their preparation work for the Corrib upstream pipeline development (this was also attempted yesterday afternoon, details to follow later). Permission from the Corduff and McGrath families, on whose lands the Shell were attempting to work , was not given. in the face of physical intimidation. The Gardai were called to the scene, and were forced to transport Mary Corduff to seek medical attention due to the stress of the situation. The Corduffs have in the last few moments returned from the doctor in Belmullet (20 odd miles away) and the situation has yet to be resolved on the ground today.

More photos from today's encroachment by Shell. They were peacefully refused entry to private lands repeatedly along the proposed high pressure pipeline route. Local Gardai observed the actions, and proceeded to question local residents and observers, at the request of Shell engineer Paul Gallagher. He (Gallagher) refused to identify Shell's ground operatives, while landowners and residents politely aceeded to Garda queries.

I hope Mary is ok. I don't think I met her but Willie is a great guy. If anything I think he was being over polite to his neighbours in the speech he gave during the gathering.
Surely there are only negative results possible from Shell being allowed to carry on with this?
Good luck everybody in Erris. It really is a beautiful place up there and SHELL cannot be allowed to desecrate it .
At some point somebody has to draw a line and say no further, otherwise they'll just keep pushing to see how cynical its possible to be.

keep up the good work Willie and Co such a shame more people cannot see what they stand to loose. The Irish Government have a lot to answer for. My question to the press office yesterday "Who runs the country" their answer the people and then the government. If this was the case would this be happening.
