Indymedia Meeting in Dublin

category dublin | arts and media | event notice author Tuesday May 24, 2005 15:30author by Anthony - Indymedia Ireland Report this post to the editors

After far too long, the next Indymedia meeting takes place on Sat 28th May from 2 to 4pm. The venue for the meeting is the Whitefriars Community Centre, Aungier St., Dublin 2. It's just before the church on the right hand side of Aungier St. as you travel out from town. For those not familiar with the location, here's a map showing Aungier St.

So far the agenda looks something like this:

  • Adoption of new proposal on membership of editorial collective
  • Discussion on Outreach / Evangelisation / Decentralisation
  • Short workshop for Indymedia Editors
  • Website hosting
  • Compensation for stolen photo equipment
  • Film screening in June Convergence Festival
  • DVD compilation
  • Indymedia Email Policy
  • Setting a date for the next meeting

I'd like to attend, and even to record it, but haven't joined the editing collective because, at the moment, for several reasons, i can't contribute much to the actual editing.

some questions/ideas re audio though, if there is room for any other business. This goes something along the lines of the practicalities of linking up with community radio, and audio archiving/reports by anyone with access.

... and thanks a lot for what you do.

"Alternative media is becoming the most important way of people finding out the truth, the most important way of finding out things that people don’t want you to know, and the most important way for people to organise themselves, set their own agenda and take a bit of control over their own lives, because the mainstream is shite. " Mark Thomas, Activist and Comedian.

"Indymedia is better, bumper stickers should be issued." Neil Young??!!
