Hammer bloc for anti-war march

category dublin | anti-war / imperialism | event notice author Monday March 14, 2005 16:05author by Joe

A proposal to have a ' Hammered by the Irish bloc' on the anti-war march on the 19th. We are planning to meet at 1.30 pm in front of the Ambassador Cinema at the top of O'Connell st. Be there on time as we want to discuss whether or not to head from the march for one of the sites in Dublin where companies are involved in the war.

The 'hammer bloc' arises because we want to show visible solidarity with the Pitstop Ploughshares by having lots of inflatable hammers on the march. You can buy them for around 3 Euro in the O'Carrolls Irish gift stores and there should be some for resale on the bloc itself.

in addition to their two massive containers in Dublin port top oil now seem to have a large building with their logo on it out there.
It's visible from the seafront in Clontarf (where the
tolka estuary is) along the cycle track etc.
The address seems to be "Tedcastles Oil Products,
Promenade Road, Dublin 3"

and there's a map to Promenade road here -

"Be there on time as we want to discuss whether or not to head from the march for one of the sites in Dublin where companies are involved in the war."

Discuss with whom? The march is not being organised as a direct action event. It is hoped to get children along. Now the state knows there might be something going down, and will be all over the march as soon as a breakaway is apparent.

Suggest doing it another day. That would avoid the 'boring' march too.
