Are newcomers welcome to the meeting?, and how do you get involved? or do you have a website?.

How about putting this on the aganda:

'Tricolour flags and other national flags are unwelcome at all DGN events. '

Nationalists who seek to divide us should be warned that they are not welcome at protests and they are likely to have their atavistic symbols removed by other participants.

Why would nationalists seek to divide anarchists. This isn't Spain in the 30's, i can hardly imagine Sinn Fein bothering their arses trying to divide anarchists.

Newcomers are totally wellcome, there is a website but its well out of date. Its at http://struggle.ws/dgn/index.php (think thats on the agenda as well). DGN is fairly unstructured so the way to get involved is to turn up at a meeting and get involved in one of the activities.

not too sure about flag issue
if i was abroad for polit event i would like to wear my tricolor, as many country flags add visual representation of the global solidarity against unfair issue, ie present trade rules.

similary what about county flags and colors at local or irish polit events.

those of us that are proud to wear county or nation colors- whats wrong with using them in polit area
ie- clare top worn when bush came

perhaps this area, which i suppose is a communication issue, needs further attention. this goes back to earlier discussions pre bush visit about attempting to have more color and messing, ceili, trad, calre hurling supporters. as opposed to mayday frontline majority black block or similar dark stuff.

wont be able to get there for meeting unfortunately, but maybe people could mention perhaps the leprachaun block for g8. also has anyone been in contact with CIRCA, or seen their methods

The comment about flags being not welcome by 'black blocer' is another juvenile example of trolling by our pet SP puppy. It refers to an incident last Mayday when some of the English participants on the black block objected to somebody carrying a tricolour on the march to Farmleigh. DGN has no policy about flags, national or otherwise and indeed there have been all manner of flags present on Grassroots events in the past.

upside down and american much nicer admittedly but tricolour is the flag of ROI and anyone who wants to carry it on a progressively inclined protest is good with me.

I thought once in a moment of stressed out bad temper around march 2003 of burning one outside the dail (as a Kind of voudon repeat of CJH"s famous stunt outside trinners with the U. Jack) but thought better of it. There were 100+ shinners across the street as a helpful and less clouded by stress and anger friend pointed out and they might not understand or like such a symbolic action.

I burned a US flag once at an anti war demo at parnell square years and years ago while in my favourite paddy macsupermac outfit. It was a disaster. I put so much fucking lighter fluid on it that it literally exploded and the sewn in stars dropped like confetti onto the ground still white and intact. All the news cameras who had been getting ready to film me doing it missed the fucking thing. They started asking me to get another one and burn it. I was broke and that was the end of that.
