Put the War on Trial!

Before the illegal invasion & bombing of Iraq, five members of the pacifist Catholic Worker movement made their way into Shannon Airport & non-violently disarmed a US Navy Warplane in the early hours of Feb 3rd. 2003.

The Pit Stop ploughshares, Deirdre Clancy, Nuin Dunlop, Karen Fallon, Damien Moran & Ciaron O'Reilly have spent 4-11 weeks in Limerick Prison & two years on bail. They go to trial at Dublin's Four Courts on March 7th. They are charged with 2 counts of criminal damage 100euro & $US2million. They face a maximum of ten years imprisonment, if convicted.

4) ACCOMADATION - INDIVIDUAL BILLETS & HALL
At the moment 20 international peace activists have confirmed they are coming from the U.S., England & Sweden to offer solidarity at the trial.
Some of these folks have done plowshares actions, some were active in breaking the sanctions on Iraq, many have been organising and resisting the ongoing war.....we need to accomadate them.

*We are looking for a hall where people can locate themselves with sleeping mat & bags.
Please make contact withany suggestions.

*We are also looking for offers (even for one night) for sleeping space on the floor of your home. We imagine a lot of people will come for the first day of the trial and will need a place to stay so they can join the walk to court at 9 am on March 7th.

5) SPEAKING EVENTS BEFORE THE TRIAL
We are looking for speaking events in your school, community, church, university, peace & justice or political groups where the defendants can explain what they did and why they did it.

*From mid-February we will have two fulltime organisers form the U.S. staying with us who can offer a U.S. anti-war perspective and direct experience of Iraq.
