FRED and Local Bands Rock The Lodge!
For the 2nd year running, a special Christmas Charity Concert will be held at The Lodge in Ballyhea, Charleville, on Tuesday night, December 28.

This years concert sees the return of much loved Cork-based band FRED. They will be supported by 3 local performers: singer/songwriter Pat O'Sullivan from Newtown, rock band Purgatory(Charleville) and newcomers Drunken Leper(Mallow). The live music will be followed by DJ Shindig from the county Clare, playing all the best of Roots, Reggae and Ska. Bar Extension till late.
Tickets only 10 euro available at door. First band starts at 8pm so come early.

Last years concert, raised almost 2000 euro. This year money raised will go to the Brother Russell Homeless Hostel in Limerick and to 2 groups involved in humanitarian and peace work in Palestine and Israel. The Palestine Children's Welfare Fund and Bat Shalom, an Israeli Women's Peace Group.

The Palestine Children's Welfare Fund is a non-political, non-religious enterprise which aims to improve the living standards of the children of Palestine in the refugee camps inside Palestine. It also provides sponsors for needy children in the refugee camps of the West Bank and Gaza. The organization has branches and volunteers in more than ten countries and is not connected with any militant or political association of any kind. (www.pcwf.org)
Bat Shalom is an Israeli national feminist grassroots organization of Jewish and Palestinian Israeli women working together for a genuine peace grounded in a just resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict, respect for human rights, and an equal voice for Jewish and Arab women within Israeli society. The Jewish and Palestinian Israeli women of Bat Shalom, call upon all women to join our active struggle for peace and equality and refuse to silently bear witness to the destruction of the hope and future of a peaceful reconciliation.
