Church leaders are too quick to condemn Tommy Robinson and the Unite the Kingdom march, says Chris Larkin. We don't know what Jesus would have made of our politics, but we can?t just assume he?d have been a Lib Dem voter.

Book Launch on Colombia

category international | crime and justice | event notice author Monday November 01, 2004 14:00author by Lasc - LASCauthor email info at lasc dot ie Report this post to the editors

This book explains the case for a Pinochet style case to be taken against former Colombian President Ernesto Samper.

BOOK LAUNCH

Desde Colombia Pedimos Justicia.

Lasc would like to invite you to the book launch of Desde Colombia Pedimos Justicia (From Colombia we ask for Justice). This book is co-published by LASC. The launch will take place at 11.30 AM in the Teacher’s Club, Parnell Square. The launch, open to all, will be followed by AGM for members.

Desde Colombia Pedimos Justicia narrates the crimes against humanity carried out in the region of Uraba, Colombia in mid to late 1990s. It squarely lays the blame for the atrocities on the shoulders of General Rito Alejo, General Orlando Carreño and also on the former president of Colombia, Ernesto Samper.

In many ways, the book is a summary of the legal case against these individuals and explains how the communities tried to bring charges against these military officers and Samper. It outlines the events and the basis in international law for now proceeding to take the case against them to another jurisdiction - a matter which is currently underway.

Desde Colombia Pedimos Justicia is the voice of communities that have suffered massacres and been ignored but are now seeking to bring three criminals, Ernesto Samper, Rito Alejo and Orlando Carreño, to justice. Desde Colombia Pedimos Justicia is their story and plea for justice.

The book will be launched by exiled Colombian human rights worker Blanca Valencia who has worked closely with the communities behind this book.

All Are Welcome. Copies of the book will be on sale on the day: price 6.00
