From the front-lines of conflicts in Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Palestine, Korea, 'the North' from Seattle to Genova, and the 'War on Terror' in New York, Afghanistan, and Iraq. It is the story of men and women around the world who resist being annihilated in this war. While our airwaves are crowded with talk of a new world war, narrated by generals and filmed from the noses of bombs, the human story of this global conflict remains untold. "The Fourth World War" brings together the images and voices of the war on the ground. It is a story of a war without end and of those who resist. The product of over two years of filming on the inside of movements on five continents, "The Fourth World War" is a film that would have been unimaginable at any other moment in history. Directed by the makers of "This Is What Democracy Looks Like" and "Zapatista", produced through a global network of independent media and activist groups, it is a truly global film from our global movement.

fourth world war best of the weekend

I thought the fourth world war was the best film of the weekend... ok so it dramatised it a bit.. but it had a good collection of stories from around the world but not too many as in some of the otehr films... the images of the zapistas just walking onto a army base simple intimidating the soldiers off the base was great...

they 35 mins piece on woomera didn't arrive but JD had a seven minute piece that I hadn't seen before... when I first saw the woomera break out I was amazed and by inspired by people simply going to fence to reach out to the peope in the detention camps and then to have some of them escape... that film did mention the question whether this caused more persecution for those left behind and those caught but the seven minutes piece I saw on Sunday had a voiceover from an escaped Iranian who put that point across even stronger...

I thought 4WW was good because it had loads of footage from all over the world (not just the usual fodder from USA/Canada) especially Argentina, but I wasnt too sure about the non-linear time narrative, it made things slightly cut-up and didnt give as good an overall picture of global events as I would have liked... nonetheless very well put together and enjoyable.
