A local night of great music to launch Campaign in Rathmines to Get US Military out of Shannon. Up to 16,000 US troops go through Shannon Airport every month, with reports of as many as 1,000 in a single day. Poll after poll has show that the vast majority of people in Ireland do not want Shannon to be used by US Military on their way to and from the brutal war on Iraq where at least 15,000 Iraqi's have been killed by the occupiers. Life for the peoples of Iraq continues to desperately decline as US/UK airstrikes on Baghdad, Najaf, Falluja & Sadr City intensify obliterating everything in their path. Electricity throughout most of the country is sporadic, drinking water continues to remain contaminated by sewerage, schools have yet to be rebuilt & hospitals where they are open are in urgent need of supplies & medical equipment. The number of dead & injured US/UK troops is increasing rapidly as the resistance continues to grow & the occupation becomes ever more unstable. As Iraq has now been deemed a 2nd Vietnam the US national anti war organisation United for Peace & Justice (800 affiliate orgs) and the UKs Stop the War Coalition have recently launched huge campaigns calling on their respective Governments to Bring the Troops Home. Here at home we are calling on our Government to end our complicity in this bloody war. With the US elections coming up next month we say - It's time to GO - Bush OUT - Troops OUT - US Military OUT of Shannon -
