Appeal for USAF HC-130P “Hercules” action
Finally, finally, my trial date is set for 5th October at Limerick Circuit Court. I'd be really grateful to see some familiar faces there, and I hope it will be even better than the last one ( see: http://www.indymedia.ie/newswire.php?story_id=22266 ). I lodged an appeal after Judge Mangan found me guilty. He didn't give a reason, and I think it's worth another shot. ( see: http://www.indymedia.ie/newswire.php?id=28943 )
I’ll be in Ireland in November to visit my family and return to court. In September 2002 I spray-painted a US Air Force HC-130P “Hercules” warplane at Shannon Airport, then phoned the authorities to join me or arrest me. The idea was to disrupt the foreign military activities at the airport, to bring greater public attention to the matter, and to allow a court hear arguments for the legality of citizens’ direct action in Ireland to stop foreign military flights related to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
I was arrested, and months later a local judge found me guilty of causing “criminal damage”. On October 5th I’m going back to court, this time for the hearing of my appeal before Limerick Circuit Court.
Come along! I don't know the time yet, but I'll post it below as a comment when I know.
