Indymedia Ireland General Open Meeting

This is the inaugural Annual General Meeting of the Independent Media Support Group (IMSG). This meeting will be held in the Teachers Club, 36 Parnell Square at 2pm on Saturday September 11th 2004. We would very much appreciate your attendance.

The IMSG was initially established in April 2004 principally as a means of raising money to support the work of indymedia Ireland, but also as a means of tying together the various elements that make up the indymedia project. Our website, at http://www.indymedia.ie is undoubtedly the best known indymedia project, but there are also been several other aspects to our work. Most notably, we established an independent media centre in the week before Mayday, which was a venue for the exhibition of independent media productions - videos, photographs, workshops and lectures. We have also produced a number of our own documentary films in the last year, focusing on the events of Mayday 2004 and the Bush visit in June 2004.

This AGM will be open to all members of the support group and will be run in an open, democratic manner. For those who are not yet a member, memberships will be available on the day. Voting will be restricted to existing members, but new members will enjoy full speaking rights.

We see the IMSG as a place where we can look at long-term strategies for expanding the reach of independent media projects, both on the internet and in the real world. We encourage you to come along and bring your ideas, hopes and criticisms for the future of our exciting project. This is also a perfect chance for those who have not been involved in the project to date to get involved and discover how they can become part of our media revolution. If there is anything that you would like added to the agenda, post it here as a comment and it will be considered.

AGENDA

  1. Reports on IMC activity (website, finances, videos, photos, print, radio, workshops, software)
  2. Ratification (or not as the case may be) of the constitution
  3. Plans for coming year and open discussion about directions of indymedia ireland
  4. Election of officers
