On Wednesday next, the 16th of June, there will be a public meeting in the Trades Club on Castle St. at 9:00pm, where Nuria Dunne, an Iraqi citizen, will speak about the ongoing illegal occupation of her country. Other unconfirmed guest speakers are also expected.
As well as this, there will be a 'Busk against Bush' in Sligo on Saturday 12th and Saturday 19th, where musicians and other performers from around the area will attempt to make the people of Sligo aware that one of the greatest war criminals of our time will be on our soil in the very near future, and perhaps persuade a few of them to make the trip down to Shannon on the 26th to make him feel as unwelcome as possible.
With regard to this, there will be a rally outside the town hall at 7:00pm on the eve of his visit, where a number of speakers will talk about why we should not be giving this unelected president failte amhain, never mind cead mile.
Also, there is a bus organised to bring folk from Sligo and environs to the demonstration in Shannon/Dromoland on Saturday the 26th. It will be leaving O'Connell St. in Sligo at 6:00am. Anyone interested in getting on this Bus against Bush should contact Jamie on 0863039787 or myself at pete_ranks@hotmail.com. At present, the cost of the bus will be approximately 13euro, but any monies collected during the Busk against Bush will go towards subsidising this.
