spacecraft fundraiser

category dublin | arts and media | event notice author Sunday June 06, 2004 18:20author by f.leddy - spacecraft theatre groupauthor email cgeek2000 at yahoo dot comauthor phone 087 2627725 Report this post to the editors

cabaret show

Spacecraft cabaret fundraiser, The green lizard, Francis st., Wednesday june 9, at 8pm. Entrance fee, 7 euros.

For seven years now spacecraft theatre company have been producing plays and performances promoting social justice in Ireland. Our past works include "the accidental death of an anarchist", "the execution of the celtic tiger", "the lottery ticket" and "the green truth". Our latest work is called "bleeding the system" and enjoyed a successful pilot run at the "Convergence" festival in april. It is a domestic comedy set against the background of the mayday protests and the immigration question. Spacecraft are currently working on preparing another run of this show in the autumn (probably at the fringe festival). Because our company are in receipt of neither public nor private money, we endeavour to finance our own shows from the provision of low-cost entertainment events for the public with a distinct grassroots flavour. Please support spacecraft's work by coming to our cabaret event where an excellent evening's entertainment is promised.

went to the spacecraft night

they had...

a bitter mc,
a piano player with an orchestra in her head,
bepo who likes to sing about wearing, dresses in space,
a tweed wearing speedy piano player
a man playing a box,
pyscho brides,
bleeding sisters,

it all in aid of their play bleeding the system which was shown over the mayday weekend at cultivate....to much applause but i think we were a bit busy though.. theres a chace to catch it again soon

as far as i can gather its about a man and wife, the man can't get an erection because of financial misdirection , the wife gets fed up turns lesbian and goes of to riot with the hippies so yerman decides to flush himself down the toilet...

more fun than traipsing around east wall/north strand. but we were trying to get the no message across to the natives of the former location of spacecraft and get them to welcome "aliens".

i hope it raised plenty of readies.
