STOP
USING BALDONNEL AIRPORT FOR U.S. WAR MACHINE
Since the beginning of 2003 over 150,000 US troops have stopped over in Shannon Airport. This figure averages at 1400 per month and is set to increase as the US occupation of Iraq intensifies.
The Evening Herald ran a headline a few weeks ago showing a US Hercules aircraft parked in Baldonnel airport in West Dublin, sporting the Jolly Roger (flag of war) flag. US and British military aircraft have been using Baldonnel as a rest-over point on route to Iraq.
We need to highlight the use of Baldonnel as a base for US war machine and its occupation of Iraq. The American regime are poised to send even more troops to back up their brutal and illegal occupation of Iraq. As the war intensifies Baldonnel will be used as Ireland’s second WARPORT.
The Clondalkin Anti War group are calling for a large and lively protest outside Baldonnel Aerodrome to send a message to the Fianna Fail/PD government that Ireland’s neutrality is a sham and to demand an end to the use of Ireland as a US military half-way house.
Assemble at the gates of Baldonnel Aerodrome

About time youse organised a demo at Baldonnel but it strikes me that this has more to do with boosting aul Gino's profile in the local elections. He's the local SWP candidate and has fuck all profile in the area - this is a way of getting a bit in the locals. Funny too how it was a last minute thing with no work put into it. That, of course, is cos all that's needed is to call it to get a few words in the press and maybe a slot on local radio.

The SWP gets more like Fianna Fail the closer they come to an election. What is this Clondakin group anyway? Um, I'll answer that! It doesn't exist; it's the local SWP branch.

Sir (or Madam),
Either:
(a) you are pro War and wish to diss any anti war activity
Or
(b) you think you are anti war but hate swp more than Bush
Comes to pretty much the same thing.
Anyway I'll be there and congrats to whoever organised the protest.

Jack

just, for anybody who will be attending the demo on sunday, outside baldonnel. people may have heard about the death of raymond heery, he worked in the baldonnel aerodrome, so in a mark of respect,( we are still meeting at the aerodrome at 3pm,) we will be handing in a letter of protest against the use by us military of the airport, and also a letter of sympathy to the deceased pilot..
