The DCC have been invited to participate in this year's St. Patrick's Day Festival on Saturday 13th March. There will be a mass cycle ride along the quays meeting at Smithfield Market at1pm and heading along the north towards Talbot Bridge and coming back along the South Quays. Refreshments will be provided and the streets will be closed off so it'll be a rare opportunity to enjoy some car-free cycling in Dublin city centre.
CYCLISTS ARE BACK IN THE ST PADDY'S FESTIVAL!!! It's a few years since the DCC took part in the St. Patrick's Day festival - when we dressed as Witches & Wizards, Celts & Vikings, or Devils & Angels and ran through our synchronised cycling set pieces - and had a great day out into the bargain. The DCC have been invited to partake in the festival again, but this time on Saturday 13th March, a few days before the big day.
Cyclists will congregate for a short, relaxing and gentle mass cycle from 1pm at Smithfield market, (off Queen St and North Kings St in the North Inner City) and set off to do a spin along a car-free section of the quays. We will cycle as far as the Custom House, over Tolbot Memorial Bridge and back along the South Quays. Refreshements will be provided. All Dublin cycling Campaign members, families and friends are very welcome to join in on the day on their bikes.
Wear bright colours, dress up your bike, bring bells, whistles, hooters - and join in with all the fun. It would be great to have a big turn-out for this event to mark the beginning of what will be an action-packed few months for the Dublin cycling Campaign. So tell all your friends to come along on their bikes and let us all enjoy car-free quays for once. Furthermore, let it act as a stimulus to refocusing our cycle campaigning efforts to making a Dublin a truely Bike Friendly city. Further details will be available on the DCC website.
