Just to let you all know that the meeting with Minister Roche was on Tuesday not Thursday.
Thank you all for your interest but perhaps in future you should learn how to read.
We'll learn to read when you learn to keep out of the SU. The SU should not be a springboard for contemptable careerists like you, Waghorne, Carroll, Binchy and the rest of FF.
I don't think anyone had organised.
Hope youre heartrate is reasonable there gregg.
I think in fairness the ones who think they are running the su mr leftwinger is the leftys which would explain why the SU in ucd is so horrendous.......if none of them can read........
I just have to reply to the previous post by Mr. Rightwinger.
This years SU officers delivered on more things than gobshites like you ever did.
The Library Hours were restored in Belfield and Earlsfort Terrace because of the leadership that the left gave. Students came out in support of the anti-cuts campaign and won a victory.
The Restaurant are now delivering on the 'student special', a big improvement on the high priced meals before.
In outlying faculties loads of small things like delivering newspapers and other services are being provided.
The Union is actually not going to be in debt this year. FF controlled Unions always lost money.
The Union protect the interests of its members, for example the Free David Murphy Campaign. This support won the praise of many trade unionists and activists outside of UCD.
In the 'Committee work' Paul Dillon is on the Finance Committee and on the body to select the next Registrar. Oisín Kelly got onto the Building Committee. A lot more than Aonghus and co ever did.
Whether you agree or not the SU officers actually took positions on things in principle. For example on Coca Cola, the increased majority in the 2nd vote was an endorsement of this.
This is a massive progress when compared to the likes of Aonghus Hourihane and his cronies that did not deliver much and did not even condemn fees! So if you want an ineffective Union vote for the right this year.
i won't even justify your stupid comment with a reply mr 'i hate the right'. so i have just three word for you......get a life!!!!!
and by the way i hope you enjoyed the little rule of the socialists in ucd this year because it'll never happen again!!!!!!
The reason the union isn't in debt should surely be attributed to Mr. Sherry's wise idea of having a freshers ball that actually makes money rather than attributing it to the leftie leadership. Generally the union only ends in debt because they run up such a high one so early in the year paying for the Freshers ball.
Oisin has turned the education office into a Trot shrine, it turns off students who dont share his views. Are the rest of the left happy with this.
you said it mate
It seems the right wing have turned to trying to sow differences within the left prior to the elections. Please stop it is pathetic and wont work. I have been in Oisín's office recently it is certainly no 'trotsky shrine'. there are no pictures of Trotsky, Marx, Bakunin or any left wing thinker. All there is is a SU Library occupation poster, A SU Free Dave Murphy poster, a large USI calender, theres about 4 photos of his mates and a noticeboard with stuff about grants and a copy of his manifesto. Hardly a 'trotsky shrine' . So what if some students don't agree with him on his stance on cuts and fees. Who cares, they lost the election and they will lose the upcoming one. When Aonghus and FF/FG were in power students were alienated by their support for fees. A SU poster about cuts in the library or a copy of a manifesto hardly compares to the careerism and arrogance of Hourihanes regime.
will the right wing hack that posted this shite go and do something usefull like start working on Waghornes manifesto, he'll need to be very good to beat Scully.
It seems if the right really is doing this then its working.
Anyone noticed a clear move away from the SP in UCD. They have been acting in a manner suggesting that the SP is not wanted for the elections best shown in making sure Weafer goes for Deputy and Scully for Pres meaning Cogavin dosent get the free run.
The existance of a conservative wing in the broad 'left' is nothing new. Anyone involved in CFE last year will tell you this. There was always a division between those arguing for conservative actions and those arguing for more militant ones. This was reflected in the fact that Murphy and Dillon ran against each other in the presidential election. This division is reflected again in these elections, it is nothing new and does not indicate 'a move away from' the SP. Actually we could well see the support for the SP campaign this year being much bigger among the 'left'.
Althought there is obvious and clear differences between the various parts of the 'left'. I think they will still be all calling for votes for Scully, Weafer and Cogavin..
