Last night the Socialist Party, the English section of the Committee for a Workers International (CWI) won a seat on Lewisham Council in London.
In a clear victory over a demoralised Labour, the Socialist Party won 590 votes, 100 more than the 490 for Labour, while the Schools campaign LEAP won 355 votes.
The SP candidate, Chris Flood, a psychiatric nurse and campaigner, joins Socialist Party councillor Ian Page.
