This is a public interest story about a complete failure of governance and management at UCC.

offsite link Deliberate Design Flaw In ChatGPT-5 Sun Aug 17, 2025 08:04 | Mind Agent
Socratic Dialog Between ChatGPT-5 and Mind Agent Reveals Fatal and Deliberate 'Design by Construction' Flaw
This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!

This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".

According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.

People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.

offsite link AI Reach: Gemini Reasoning Question of God Sat Aug 02, 2025 20:00 | Mind Agent
Evaluating Semantic Reasoning Capability of AI Chatbot on Ontologically Deep Abstract (bias neutral) Thought
I have been evaluating AI Chatbot agents for their epistemic limits over the past two months, and have tested all major AI Agents, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, for their epistemic limits and their negative impact as information gate-keepers.... Today I decided to test for how AI could be the boon for humanity in other positive areas, such as in completely abstract realms, such as metaphysical thought. Meaning, I wanted to test the LLMs for Positives beyond what most researchers benchmark these for, or have expressed in the approx. 2500 Turing tests in Humanity?s Last Exam.. And I chose as my first candidate, Google DeepMind's Gemini as I had not evaluated it before on anything.

offsite link Israeli Human Rights Group B'Tselem finally Admits It is Genocide releasing Our Genocide report Fri Aug 01, 2025 23:54 | 1 of indy
We have all known it for over 2 years that it is a genocide in Gaza
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has finally admitted what everyone else outside Israel has known for two years is that the Israeli state is carrying out a genocide in Gaza

Western governments like the USA are complicit in it as they have been supplying the huge bombs and missiles used by Israel and dropped on innocent civilians in Gaza. One phone call from the USA regime could have ended it at any point. However many other countries are complicity with their tacit approval and neighboring Arab countries have been pretty spinless too in their support

With the release of this report titled: Our Genocide -there is a good chance this will make it okay for more people within Israel itself to speak out and do something about it despite the fact that many there are actually in support of the Gaza

This story is unverified but it is very instructive of what will happen when cash is removed
THIS STORY IS UNVERIFIED BUT PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT AS IT GIVES AN VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT A CASHLESS SOCIETY WILL LOOK LIKE. And it ain't pretty

A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

Top Oil On Amien Street Picketed..

category dublin | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Monday November 03, 2003 20:36author by antrophe - global actionauthor email antrophe at hotmail dot com Report this post to the editors

Dishevled and lost looking, we sat perched on the concrete wall outside Top Oil on Amien Street. With no banners, and no leaflets, if there was a bus top there at least it could have done something of a job in justifying our presence outside a seemingly random petrol station in the city centre. We didn't spend the whole evening looking lost, eventually somebody showed up and we preceeded to leaflet people as they passed and cars as they went in.

We were joined by a procession of eight people led by pacisficist nun, who played some wierd little drum. A decent number of cars decided not to drive in and at the height of traffic, say around five oclock, business did look like it was being affected adversely.

Top Oil is not just a random petrol station in the middle of Dublin. While the medias war may be over, for the people of Iraq, the war of aggrssion being waged to seize the natural resources of their country continues unabated. All in the name of democracy of course, instead of Saddams there are now 150, 000 american troops involved in suppressing the population on a daily basis. Already there have been two attacks on demonstrations by soldiers which rate on a similar scale to bloody sunday here. With attacks on american installations increasing since the actual war, there is a growing sense of demoralisation within the military. Families have begun to speak out on behalf of their relatives serving. As one member of the group Military Families Speak Out says

'I believe George Bush lied to us to get us to go along with this war. I also believe the continuing occupation is only necessary so that Bush can pay back the corporate sponsors who put him in office. I think this is very close to class warfare, too. The young men and women George Bush sends to die are far removed from him and his circle of elite friends.'

In Ireland, resistance to the war has abated, the marches and demonstrations have subsided but war planes are still refuelling in Shannon, and we are still implacated in what is happening in Iraq.

Meanwhile, down in galway there was a picket of the TOP OIL offices by NUIG Eco Society and a leafletting of the main shopping areas. The Catholic Worker heads were on trial today, so thats what prompted the pickets as much as the actual need for a boycott of top oil. Now there is a need to regularise the pickets, one hour once a month at the vaious stations, thats all it takes.

It's got narrow gates that could fairly easily be blockaded and if the trucks can't get in or out their it could disrupt business fairly significantly

"some weird little drum" borders on the racist and sectarian when describing a Japanese Buddhist nun, but we'll put it down to the churlish adolescent anarchism of the author!

Yeah, because there was no banners and no real visible presence as to why a load of people were standing around outside Top Oil, it meant that people were coming up out of curiousity and asking what we were doing. The general reaction was positive, even from some of the people that nonetheless filled up, they still took leafletts and said they'd read the case. One or two people did point down the road and suggest we blockade the main top oil depot..

I arrived at about 4.45 soon after Laurence arrived with the leaflets. I considered the boycott / picket of Mr. Stafford's garage to be a reasonably successful venture. There was quite a good presence from Catholic Worker and friends such as the Buddhist monk whose drumming provided a good atmosphere on a cold evening for standing around. At one stage, there was about 15 of us but for most of the time, it was around 10.

I thought the response from the public was quite good although the manager seemed a bit peeved. A couple of gardaí passed by but as we weren't blocking the entrance, they were happy to leave us be. One garda seemed to show a genuine interest when he came up and asked us a few questions about what we were doing and why.

You could hardly blame people for not filling up when they arrived at the petrol station as we were there during rush hour and no one likes to travel more than they have to at that time of day. But the main reason I was there was to inform Top Oil customers of what Top Oil are up to in Shannon so that their customers could choose to buy elsewhere (and let the Top Oil headquarters know why they were doing so).

It's worth noting that about 6 (at least - I wasn't watching all the time) cars turned away after pulling in and the majority of these were taxi drivers - something I've noticed at previous pickets on Amien St. It's good to see that the concept of solidarity isn't lost on the taxi drivers.

Anthony is absolutely right about the taxi drivers, and this should encourage the campaign to directly approach their unions and ask for a blacking of Top Oil throuhout Dublin. During the time that I was there I saw at least four taxis turn and leave once they had been informed of the boycott.
