FEIC, the Foyle Ethical Investment Campaign, the group opposing raytheon in Derry, are to hold two events over the next few days in solidarity with the Pitstop Ploughshares Five as they go to the Fourcourts for their initial hearing.
Firstly, our monthly vigil outside the raytheon plant on All Souls Day, Saturday 1 November at 5pm will be dedicated to the Five. The vigil will be torch/candle-lit, and will include an 'oblation' (I am told this is a kind of ritual involving the pouring of oil or water for honouring the dead) in front of the plant.
Secondly, there will be a Mass Spud Planting in the flowerbeds around the plant on Monday 3 November at 5pm. We will be "Digging for the Victory of Peace over War" in full confidence that "Resistance is Fertile". We are hoping to get a large gathering of supporters and their families and friends for an avent that should be a bit of craic too.
