Up The Banner!

In the small hours of the night before the 27 Sept Anti-War Protest four activists scaled Mc Na Mara's Castle in Cratloe beside the main Limerick-Shannon motorway to erect this anti-war banner.

A previous attempt to erect a similar banner was foiled by Gardai at the last anti-war protest at Shannon. This time the activists were more successful and the banner flew for 20 hours before two Garda Landrovers, a unit of Limerick fire brigade, and an Absailing team were called out to remove it.

It is nice to see where our tax money and Garda resources are being spent.

Future banner drops and more public messages are planned along the motorway route in order to highlight the fact that US Military is *still* using the airport at Shannon.

US Marines on stopover at Shannon are known to frequent pubs in the Meelick-Cratloe area.
