Continuity IRA denies part in Omagh bomb

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Thursday August 14, 2003 03:48author by Ailín - Republican Report this post to the editors

The Continuity IRA has denied that it co-operated with the Real IRA in carrying out the Omagh bombing in 1998.
The claim that both dissident groups acted together was made by FBI agent David Rupert in the recent trial in Dublin of Michael McKevitt, the Real IRA leader found guilty of directing terrorism.

But the Continuity IRA says it “totally refutes” the claim it was involved in “tragic events at Omagh.”

Describing the McKevitt case as a “political show trial in the Stalinist style”, the Continuity IRA statement said: “We wish to totally refute these absurd lies uttered by this mercenary and, for the record, we wish to state that we played absolutely no part in the preparation or carrying out of this atrocity.”

Pointing out that Rupert was “paid millions by a foreign power”, CIRA claimed he was “prepared to do and say anything in an attempt to blacken the name of our organisation with the stain of Omagh.”

“Unfortunately, he is not alone, since there are also some apparently subservient journalists who are prepared to engaged in the same sordid tactics,” said the CIRA.

God now that they are plastering their graffiti all over working class Dublin and recruiting 14 year old kids I think its time somebody takes down these drug dealing bullies before they do actually do something.

if so why doesn't their press officer make the release? Or are you their press officer?
And whilst I'm at it does the RIRA have a political wing and a press officer?
It really was much simpler back when Mr O'neill would make the statements and there was only one IRA which got called PIRA by the unionists, and of course we all _knew_ there had been an Official IRA but they had got stuck in history somewhere and of course they all were different from the "old" IRA who somehow just dissolved when Fianna Fail entered the Dail.
¿can you imagine how difficult it is to explain these things to foreigners?
I mean Ailin if the CIRA and RIRA are so interested in the "just for the record" wouldn't they like to avoid the confusion as well?
So....could you just let the CIRA and RIRA know that it would help lots like if they renamed themselves. INLA of course is taken as too is IPLO hmmm....
any suggestions?

Notice that the British government has NOT denied that any of its FRU/Real IRA agents were involved in the Omagh bomb.

Let me help you out, the CIRA, are an ultra secretive shadowy branch of the SDLP, under the pretext of being respectable pillar of society professionals supporting the peace process, they then, are able to phone in numerous elaborate bomb hoaxs across northern ireland.

Many are rich bored catholic and church of ireland buisness men, who drive 4*4's and idle their spare time away phoning in bomb hoaxes from the safety of their buisness executive conference halls. Are you following me.

Ive no idea were the source of that denial is coming from but its not the first denial on the subject by CIRA Theres barely a republican in Ireland bar the youngest and most gullible of CIRAs support base that believes the above denial about CIRAs involvement in Omagh . The denial is patent nonsense .

I have not seen 1 piece of proof that any CIRA people in Limerick or anywhere else are involved in the drugs trade.
In fact from speaking to Republican Sinn Féin people (the political wing) the CIRA are very anti drugs.

Not 1 CIRA member has ever been found with any drugs at all. So how do you make them out to be dealers??

author by Larrypublication date Wed Aug 29, 2007 15:49author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Omagh was the Real IRA.
There is nothing to suggest the the Continuity had anything to do with it,

author by Watcherpublication date Wed Aug 29, 2007 15:56author address author phone Report this post to the editors

But the CIRA collaborated in the operation. The CIRA delivered the bomb to the spot. But the intended parking space for the carbomb was taken so the CIRA member parked the car outside of a shop owned by a member of the orange order. The car should have been dumped in the countryside. All of those involved bear responsibility for the ensuing deaths. but the major blame lies with he who driven by atavistic sectarianism left the bomb outside of the shop.
