Four students hacked, shot in Colombia

Four secondary school students killed by suspected leftist rebels in southwestern Colombia were attacked with machetes and shot in the head to finish them off.

The bodies of the four youngsters, who were on a camping trip, were found on Sunday in the region of Abellones in Cauca province.

The youngsters had set off on Saturday from La Vega towards Abellones and had planned to spend the night and return to their homes on Sunday.

Authorities blamed the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia for the murders.
