Finally after a few hours the jury came back to deliver their verdict ....
They found Mary guilty on the grounds of trespass.
But on criminal damage to the plane ... a hung jury!!
The case maybe heard again in October with a new jury.
A more detailed report later.

.. if they can't agree whether or not the damage was illegal, how could they have convicted her of trespass? unless there were different criteria for convicting her of that?

this criminal illegally trepassed and her unemployed ass summoned the energy which heretofore had lain dormant for decades to destroy and intimidate. lock her up. no martyr here

The latter - though I don't have to hand the exact details, the offences require different things to be proven.

I'm not surprised to see you bunch of whinging ,belittling trolls trying to run down and underplay the magnificent victory of Mary Kelly over the US military .

I'm sure the US embassy in Ballsbridge must be very annoyed!

Mary Kelly is an example to us all and has done the Irish people, whom she thanked for releasing her, as much service as anyone in our history.

Go raibh mile maith agat a Mhaire, beir Bua !

Well done Mary Kelly and all who helped her attain this verdict. And a thank you to Ramsey Clarke & Scott Ritter for taking the time and effort to come over and help her out. Great work!

Anyone any idea what the court handed out for the supposed trespassing offence? I'm sure you've had one or two of those in your time James! :)

A fine I assume?

It was 50 quid fine for the trespass, I heard

Rumour is that the jury was hung with 9 thinking she was innocent and 3 guilty, apparently a 10 to 3 majority is required on the verdict, so they were one out of proving her innocent

I think it's wonderful that she managed to convince 9 ordinary people (if that information was true) of her innocence and the guilt of our state. I can imagine the 3 jurors who refused to aquit her were in the same vein as ardent charles haughey supporters.. totally blinded by the state propaganda that they cannot see the truth for the contradictions and they voted with their wallets (it's my tax payers money going to not fixing that plane...) and theirbrain washed mis placed sense of morality (it's wrong to hit things with axes and hammers but its ok to bomb innocent women and children)

Sentencing has been adjourned to the 21st of October, but the maximum fine for tresspass is €63. The case is also up for mention again then.
Where did the info about the 9/3 split come from? that was not given in court and as far as I know is not supposed to be revealed to the public or the defendant.
The reason they can find her guilty of tresspass and not of the criminal damage is that they basically had to decide if she had lawful excuse for damaging the plane. That is what they couldn't decide- if her reasons justifed the action.

The charge could be reactivated at any time. Years from now, with a vindictive SP government in power, Mary could be charged with this before a peoples court.

[for worried fairy](would that be a little people's court?)

"would that be a little people's court?"

Only if Tots 'n' Trots were presiding.

well done mary.Did they charge you with trespass as well as criminal damage?
Good result though.

It's a great day for the people of Ireland represented by the jury at Kilrush. At the very worst, three out of twelve found you innocent after hearing the evidence, seeing and hearing your own brave, sincere and truthful account of what you did and why. The jury were in shock when they heard you and I'm certain they would have acquitted you if the judge hadn't told them to disregard the evidence of all four defence witnesses and tell them that your defence was not valid under (Irish) law.
If in fact there were nine on the jury still willing to acquit, what a brilliant result that would be.
Go raibm maith agat.
