Breakdown of votes received by candidates playing the anti-immigrant card in the recent election.

Noel O Flynn FF in Cork North Central. 7,387 topped the poll. In 1997 he got 4,943 first prefs.

Joe O Callaghan IND in Cork North Central. 3,154 (7%). Good showing for an Independent, ahead of SF, Greens, PDs, and left wing groups.

Ted Neville ICP in Cork South Central. 371 (0.7%). Fairly pitiful, but ahead of SWP's 218 (0.4%).

Batt O Keeffe FF in Cork South Central. 6,576 (11.9%). Elected on 10th Count.

Aine Ni Chonaill ICP in Dublin South Central. 926 (2.1%). Good result, ahead of SWP (617 ) and 2 Workers Party (553 + 270). Was also not far behind
long term community Councillor Vincent Ballyfermot Jackson's 1,142 (2.6%).
Largest proportion of her 2nd prefs (220) went to SF.
Tallies say many of her votes came from The Coombe.
In 1997 Dean O Nuallain ran as anti immigration Ind and got 80 votes (.20%).

James Kennedy IND in Kerry North. 233 (0.6%). Got a lot of local publicity, did not translate into votes. Also got himself onto the Independent Health Alliance slate.

Frank Godfrey IND in Louth. 473 (1%). In 1997 he got 1,037 (2.3%) as an Independent.

Aiden Francis McMahon IND in Louth. 294 (0.6%). Still ahead of Workers Party on 176, Christian Soldarity Party on 79 and an Independent on 239.
