I understand another peace activist was shot today, Friday, and is not expected to live. These are brave and good people, facing the huge and powerful evil that is Zionism.
the national movement for the return of the Jewish people to their homeland and the resumption of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel, advocated, from its inception, tangible as well as spiritual aims. Jews of all persuasions, left and right, religious and secular, joined to form the Zionist movement and worked together toward these goals. Disagreements led to rifts, but ultimately, the common goal of a Jewish state in its ancient homeland was attained. The term "Zionism" was coined in 1893 by Nathan Birnbaum.
I'm new here but already I have found an Israeli shill. This Darwin Award "joke" is on every discussion forum that happens to mention Rachell Corrie, the poor girl who was murdered by the Israelis.
The shill, or paid heckler, always comes out with this Darwin joke. Not particularly funny but a dead giveaway for a paid PR company shill. Hard to believe but the Israelis pay out millions to swamp every internet discussion forum with people like Josef. Not sure yet how it works and how they are paid but check it out for yourself. Example... Go to the anti-war forum....WAR WITHOUT END and see how many posts COWBOY puts up.
They supply their shills with up to the minute rebuttals for every topic that comes up. For example... Cruise missile wipes out family of six, press button F.... family were in fact fanatical Fedayeen suicide bombers!
This is a huge operation and the people of Ireland should be aware of it.
Hmmm, right. That could explain why we hear so much from Avi.
...to discuss the Israel/Palestine question without resorting to derogatory comments about Judaism and zionism? Just as the anti-war movement is in solidarity with civilians of Iraq yet condemns its regime, it is possible to condemn the actions of the Israeli regime without degenerating into facile anti-Judaism or even kneejerk anti-zionism. This attitude, which seems endemic, stinks of lazy either/or thinking. Some of the most vocal peace activists in solidarity with Palestinians are Israelis.
As Zionism is an ideology whose practical application resulted in the ethnic cleansing of the native population from most of Palestine and ultimately in the current mess, I don't think it is possible to come to a real understanding of the situation in the Middle East without discussing it. Neither is there any reason why it, or any other ideology, should be off limits to political debate.
Some of the most ardent critics of Zionism are Israelis too.
Im sure the killer of Rachel Corrie and the guy who shot an ISM protester in the head during the week will be given the Iron Cross with oakleaves for their services to the Fatherland.
