US attempt propaganda 'Victory'

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Wednesday April 09, 2003 16:04author by James McKennaauthor email jimmymac61 at hotmail dot com Report this post to the editors

Did you all watch it live on SKY and BBC?

Fearing a massive backlash from the public , in the form of Stop-the-war protests, after a series of abominable war crimes yeaterday , the US/UK is now pretended there is no war to stop. It's over, you can all forget about protesting now!

Today the US military secured a small area of downtown Baghdad where they ran a propaganda circus, literally.

A circle of US tanks surrounded a square with a Saddam statue which they allowed a bunch of looters and malcontents destroy for the cameras.

A gang of no more than a few hundred gathered to cheer for the cameras and no doubt lots of cigarettes and candy bars! If the city is free and the people are cheering in the streets, where are the other 6,999,999 of them?

This "Victory" charade is purely to take away from the outrage that was brewing after yesterdays events. The callus targeting of reporters and TV stations. The double bombing of civilian homes. The cluster bombing of markets.

This war is unfortunately far from over and we should not cease in our efforts to stop it before more and more people are killed.

People who should be ashamed they supported this slaughter of innocents are today on RTE chiding anti-war peole saying "you got it wrong". Really? I'm afraid not. Go look in the hospitals and look at "Buck" Garner from Texas about to become Governor.

Don't forget who the war criminals are here and don't forget we can still stop them.

When the Brits took over West Belfast and the Bogside and interned all the men they declared the war over too.

Cigarettes and candy bars are nice. If you have dark skin go to baghdad now. Free handouts available.

But seriously, though, if fifteen people in Baghdad act liberated, that means it must have been worth killing a thousand civilians and untold conscripts, right?

And it makes perfect sense to kill another few thousand to liberate another ten, or so, right?

Please line up now for libeation. But remember, you _must_ have dark skin, OK? Now waspies allowed. Sorry. Get in line, now.

Some people have such a deeply ingrained and biased view of the world that even when confronted with obvious and definitive evidence they refuse to believe it. The author is clearly one of those people.

It's kind of sad really.

Even if you strip away all the media BS it's blindingly obvious that the Iraqi regime has collapsed. Ordinary Iraqis are not prepared to die for Saddam. What resistance is left consists of Arab Mercenaries and Ba'atth party fascists who will be lynched by the locals if the Marines don't get them first.

Glen.

Confront yourself with the prospect of clearing the whole city and not just one junction.

Confront yourself with the prospect of a long occupation and call the war over.

When I see the end of this war I'll know it and it ain't a few looters cheering an American tank pulling down yet another statue for the cameras while ducking RPG and small arms fire.

THEY ARE JUST DESPERATE TO AVOID THE PUBLIC OUTCRY AGAINST THIER RECENT WAR CRIMES

It was great to see your refreshing unbiased view of the world. I have to agree with you after seeing the same pictures as everyone else in the free world, brought to us by those icons of truth, CNN, Royal United Service and friends.

I agree that the Saddam regime has more or less collapsed. However, the resistance that will continue does not simply consist of arab mercenaries or Ba'ath party nazis. It consists of arab and muslim people proud of their land and sick to the guts of being subjugated by familiar (Saddam) or foreign (US/K) military forces.
