War and democracy: the Evian G8 summit.
Public meeting. Sunday 13th April, Liberty Hall, 2-5pm.
This June the G8 meet in Evian, France. These are the eight largest economic powers in the world, and between then are responsible for the deaths of millions due to war and famine. Many will remember the dramatic scenes of violence and police brutality from Genoa last year, when one protester was killed by the Carabinieri. In the aftermath there was speculation that future summits would be held in secret.
This year's summit will be attended by Bush and Blair and offers Europeans the chance to make clear their opposition the "war on terrorism" which is currently being used to justify the slaughter of Iraqi people. Globalise Resistance will be organising buses and accomodation.
Speakers:
Christophe Agguiton - ATTAC
Des Geraghty - SIPTU
Patrica McKenna -Green Party
Joe Carolan – Globalise Resistance
